I saw Michelle Rohr using your Advent calendar for her promotion and loved your design! So sorry to hear your brilliant idea was duplicated. Keep at it, though! I hope to get on Teachery soon and would love to buy your themes.

Aww yes, I loved her Holiday Sale hub that she did last year using the Advent theme – it was so fun! To be fair, whatever Michelle creates is just gorgeous, ha.

As for the theme being duplicated, I literally just saw someone mention my work alongside the person that copied my theme as "go to" people for Teachery themes and admittedly that stings a little to know someone is profiting off of the hard work and love I poured in. BUT the thing that truly bothers me the most is that I assumed said person was an ethical creative person, and that's what makes me sad...but again...out of my control.

The lesson in this is that it reminds me to truly dig into the personal growth side of things and keep reminding myself of the unique blend of skills that I have, and that despite any copycats or so-called "competitors", there is only one me. I operate my biz based off of my core values of integrity, professionalism and full creative expression, and do so whilst working full-time with kids. I think some people will naturally align to me because they resonate with where I am coming from, and perhaps also understand that time is their biggest currency and therefore happy to invest in my products / working with me.

I'm not sure what I am really trying to say here, but I think life is just a series of lessons. I am trying my best to choose to focus on the things I can control / change.

A huge thank you for commenting and sharing that you'd love to buy my themes. I love to talk all things Teachery, so feel free to reach out if you ever have any questions :)

Your thoughtful response made me think of Jamie Kern Lima’s newest book ‘Worthy’ in which she shares in chapter 8 the time her manufacturer sold the recipe to her cheek stain to a competitor. She felt betrayed, defeated, and paralyzed that her efforts were for nothing. But after launching anyway, customers bought from her company because of her company values, her style of marketing, and the product messaging. And she outsold a larger, more established company because of those things. So, yes, you’re right in how you’re looking at it!

*Immediately adds Jamie’s book to reading list* 😅

In all seriousness, thank you for sharing that insightful nugget of positivity! I love that! I am definitely reading her book soon, although, I can’t actually read quick enough these days to get through my ever-growing list!

Hi Kim, loved reading this. I can really feel your passion for your business returning, which is so great after you felt so dejected. And it's terrible that people started reselling your design as their own. Hello copyright??!!

I'm interested in your new offer, sounds great! Hope the development of it is going well.

Lovely to be connected on here Kim 🥰

Lovely to be connected here too, and thanks so much for taking time to comment!

I honestly get scared saying out loud that I feel motivated again, I feel that if I admit that publicly then I will automatically jinx myself...but yes...I am feel so positive about things and I am just SO DAMN HAPPY to have arrived back at this place after being in a dark hole with my creativity for way longer than I ever imagined x
